Hurry! Final days to enter The Deadline Club Awards Contest

February 7, 2012

Did you know that the bronze statuette bestowed on the Deadline Club’s annual awards winners is a unique piece of art history? Designed by the “dean of American cartoonists” Rube Goldberg in 1968, when he was 80 years old, the sculpture depicts a “dead line.” It is affectionately known as a “Rube.” Time is running out to enter the contest for your chance to win a Rube. All entries must be received by 11:59pm on Friday, February 24. Entries in all 32 categories must be submitted electronically this year. Click HERE for free registration to the contest entry site.

The Deadline Club has added new categories this year, including: Magazine Profile, Magazine Personal Service, Reporting by Independent Digital Media, Headline Writing and Social Media. Digital media outlets can enter many more categories this year. The 2012 contest covers work that was published or broadcast in 2011. As always, entrants must be employees of or freelancers for news organizations with an office within a 50-mile radius of Columbus Circle in New York City. If you are having any difficulty with the contest site, or have general questions that are not covered in the guidelines on this site, email the contest committee at awards@deadlineclub.org.
