The last day to register to attend the Excellence in Journalism convention in California is Tuesday, August 15. But you don’t need to be at the convention to vote in next month’s election for the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists. All SPJ members are eligible to vote for the national board. Ballots will be emailed to you during the conference from September 7 to 9. Additional instructions will arrive via email, so make sure your membership information is up to date. You’ll need to be current in your dues and have the best email address to reach you on file.
Voting registration checklist:
• Make sure your membership dues and email address on record are current by Tuesday, August 29. You can check by going to www.spj.org and clicking “sign in” in the upper left corner of your computer screen, or “member login” on your phone, or by contacting membership coordinator Chrystal Parvin at email@example.com.
• Check to make sure that you’re receiving SPJ emails, and that they’re not going to your spam or promotions folder.
• Keep an eye out for the voting ballot that will be emailed to all members of record on the evening of Thursday, September 7. Voting will end on Saturday, September 9. It only takes a few minutes to follow the link and cast your ballot.
• Meanwhile, get to know the candidates at https://www.spj.org/elections-candidates.asp.
