We kicked off the holiday season early at the Deadline Club's Annual Board Election Party on Friday, Nov. 11. We reserved the private back room at Kennedy's Restaurant and Bar near Columbus Circle and served a delicious buffet supper with a cash bar. This free event was open ONLY to Deadline Club members, who elected the 2012 governing board. The new board will take office Jan. 1.

New York journalists packed the top floor of the Playwright Celtic Pub and Restaurant on 8th Avenue for one last drink on the outdoor terrace. We asked, and you answered. A group of great volunteers updated our list of nearly 800 media contacts. They will get FREE admission to all Deadline Club events for the rest of 2011 (including our holiday party in December), a free Deadline Club T-shirt/coffee mug/mouse pad and their local dues waived for one year if they join SPJ. Deadline Club members who volunteered will get all of the aforementioned gifts AND have their $30 local membership dues waived in 2012! There will be more opportunities to work with The Deadline Club this year and next year, so if you are still interested in helping with a future project, use our contact form.
