Lea Ceasrine is a master’s candidate at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism concentrating in health and science reporting. Her reporting on urban farms and community gardens has appeared in NPR’s The Salt and BKLYNER.
Deanna Garcia grew up in the Bronx and discovered her passion for journalism in high school. After graduating from the Borough of Manhattan Community College, Deanna will attend Lehman College in the fall as a journalism major.
Kadia Gobia is a Hunter College senior who has written for a number of college publications and local Brooklyn outlets. She was recently awarded a Pulitzer Fellowship to travel to Sierra Leone where she will report on how local grassroots organizations are addressing environmental issues plaguing the country.
Yasemin Sim Esmen is a graduate student at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. Previously she studied Radio, TV and Film Production at Syracuse University. Yasemin says she was bitten by the news bug while working for an investigative TV news program in her native Turkey.
Chibuike Oguh is a graduate student at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, where he’s completing a degree in business and economic reporting. He has served as the editor of a mobile news service in his native Nigeria.
