Panelists Offer Tips to Keep the Information Flowing
Held at CUNY’s Newmark Graduate School of Education on April 16, the program focused on the Freedom of Information Act and included how-to guidance, front-line tales and a call to media arms to keep public records public.
Panelists also included Robert J. Freeman, executive director of the New York State Committee on Open Government; Matthew Leish, assistant general counsel for Tribune Publishing Company/New York Daily News; Micah Morrison, chief investigative reporter for Judicial Watch, the nation’s leading filer and litigator of Freedom of Information Act requests, and Grace Rauh, political reporter for NY1 News and the host of NY1’s “Off Topic/On Politics” podcast. Committed to protecting freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment, the Deadline Club sponsors an FOI event every spring. Club vice presidents Jessica Seigel and George Bodarky chaired the April 16 program, which drew 100 metro-area journalists and journalism educators.
